ANGELO STATE BASEBALL

SAN ANGELO, Texas – No. 9 Angelo State completed its first Lone Star Conference sweep of the season with a commanding 9-6 win over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at Foster Field.
 
ASU (27-10, 11-5 LSC) is now in a tie for first place in the conference with West Texas A&M after the Buffs split their series with Abilene Christian this weekend. The Rams improved to 17-2 at home this season and will take a four-game winning streak into a 6 p.m. nonconference game on Wednesday against No. 1 St. Mary's at Foster Field.
 
The Rams have now swept four teams this season (Ouachita Baptist, Southeastern Oklahoma, CSU-Pueblo and ENMU) and are now only eight wins away from the program's and head coach Kevin Brooks' 300th victory (292-159 all-time).

James Conlee (3-1) went 6.0 innings in his seventh start of the season and earned the win for the Rams. Conlee struck out three, managed through five hits and kept his walks down to two. Toby Semler, Quaid McKinnon and Brett Parsons each had two hits for the Rams who finished with 10 as a team. Ryan Greer had one hit, was hit by a pitch three times in the game and scored two runs, while Zach Cohen and Andrew LaCombe also each had a hit. Semler and McKinnon each had two runs batted in.  
 
Angelo State jumped out early by putting two runs on the board in the first two innings and adding another in the third to have a 5-1 lead after three innings over the Greyhounds (11-22, 2-14 LSC). The Rams would post three more in the fifth and went into the top of the ninth with a 9-1 lead before ENMU scored five runs.
 
Gabriel Hemmer (1-4) claims the loss for the Greyhounds after allowing eight runs and eight hits against the Rams. Luis Quinones, Joe Huwer and Sam Hedrick each had two hits for ENMU who also finished with 10 team hits.
 
ASU outscored the Greyhounds 36-15 and finished the four-game series with 34 hits. The Rams stole 14 bases, had 16 walks and were hit by a pitch seven times. Semler, who leads the team with a .350 batting average, had six hits and six RBI this weekend while Parsons and LaCombe each had five. Greer and Semler each added two doubles in the series with Tate Allison and Lee Neumann both hitting their team-leading fourth home runs.
