Rambelles Fall to Conference-Leading West Texas A&M



CANYON – West Texas A&M claimed a 2-0 Lone Star Conference win over Angelo State on Friday at The Pitch at Buffalo Sports Complex.

The Belles (4-4-1, 2-2-1 LSC) had 13 shots in the game but were unable to but strong pressure on WT goalkeeper Yvette Bedoy who had 10 saves. Lauren Carnes, Sierra Anderson, Maggie Schaffer and Hanna Horeis had two shots each for the Rambelles who suffered their third shutout of the season. WT remains atop the LSC standings with a 5-1 conference record and improved to 6-3-1 overall with the win.

ASU goalkeeper Danielle Edwards finished the game with eight saves in the loss. Edwards faced seven WT shots in the first half and 12 in the second. The Lady Buffs scored their first goal with just over two minutes remaining in the first half with Berklee Watson scoring from 35-yards out. WT would tack on its second goal just 10 minutes into the second half as Leslie Briggs scored her conference leading 12th goal.

The Rambelles return to action at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Eastern New Mexico.
