Belles Open LSC Tournament at LCU

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University women's soccer team heads to Lubbock, Texas, on Tuesday, November 12 to begin postseason play at the Lone Star Conference Tournament against the No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Since 2011, the Belles make the Lone Star Conference tournament for the ninth consecutive year and are the reigning LSC tournament champions. ASU enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Lubbock Christian. The two teams met earlier this season in San Angelo with the Belles defeating the Chaparrals 2-1 in an overtime thriller. The Belles trailed 1-0 until the final five minutes of the game, when Kiah Benham hit the back left corner of the net to tie the game and force overtime. Trenadey Scott ended the overtime period in a minute and a half by grabbing a rebound shot and placing it in the net to give the Belles the victory.
 
Lubbock Christian
LCU hosts the first round of the LSC tournament as the No. 3 seed after finishing the regular season 13-4-1 overall and 10-2-1 in conference action. The Lady Chaps ended the regular season in a 3-0 shutout victory over Eastern New Mexico.
 
Haley Knesek leads the Chaparral offense with 12 goals, seven assists, and 31 points in 1354 minutes of action. Knesek holds a 0.455 shots on goal percentage. Allison Scott is right behind her with 29 points, 11 goals and seven assists in 1345 minutes of action. Half of Scott's shots have landed on goal (25-of-50) for a 0.500 shots on goal percentage.
 
In goal, Hannah Wise holds an 11-4-1 record with seven shutouts. She has registered a 0.83 goal against average and a 0.785 save percentage. She has saved 51 shots and has faced 150.
 
Angelo State
The Belles finished the regular season 12-5-1 overall and 8-4-1 in conference play to finish sixth in conference play. The Belles defeated St. Edwards for the second time this season, 2-1, on Friday, November 8. The Belles and Hilltoppers were tied heading into the half. The second half quickened as the Trenadey Scott helped set the Belles pace and dribbled down the field to find Avery McNeme outside the keeper's box. McNeme dribbled once and curved the ball to hit the back left corner of the net to give the Belles the lead, 1-0. Later in the half, Ally Warren went one-on-one with the keeper to give the Belle the cushion, 2-0. The Hilltoppers were able to end the shutout as they scored with three minutes remaining in the game. The Belles came out with the 2-1 victory.
 
McNeme leads the Belles offense with 20 points, five goals, and 10 assists in 1418 minutes of action. McNeme has recorded a 0.540 shots on goal percentage. Scott is right behind her with 18 points, five goals, and eight assists in 1313 minutes of action. Scott holds a 0.438 shots on goal percentage.
 
In between the pipes, Kira Miller holds an 11-5-1 record and has recorded six shutouts and one combined shutout. She has tallied a 1.03 goals against average and a 0.766 save percentage. She has faced 147 shots with 59 saves.

If the Belles win, they will advance to the semifinals on Friday, November 15 and will face the winner between Texas A&M - Commerce and St. Edward's in Dallas, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
