SAN ANGELO, TX – After winning a decisive first game against the Aggies 18-1, the Rams continued to lay on the offensive firepower by taking games two and three with scores of 26-8 and 6-1 respectively. The 26 runs in the first game of the doubleheader is a tie for the second most runs in a single game by the Rams in team history. ASU had previously scored 26 runs last season in a 26-9 win over Tarleton, and in 2008 against West Texas A&M. The single game runs record sits at 27 which occurred on April 9, 2010 against Southeastern.
The Rams gave fans plenty to talk about in the first two days of the series, outscoring their Cameron counterpart 50-10 in three games. ASU's offensive stat line of the first Saturday game of course reflected this as the team filled the alleys with six doubles, were hit by five pitches, and crushed three home runs. Â After putting a glaring 11 runs on the scoreboard in the first inning, the Rams never let up as they only did not score in the fifth.
Fans also learned that Seginowich's home run in the first game was a foreshadowing of what was to come in the second game of the doubleheader. The Canadian junior finished his night by going 2-4 with five of the team's six RBI, and connected for two no-doubt home runs over the left field fence. Seginowich now leads the team in home runs with 12 – this also places him at the top of the Lone Star Conference and eighth in the nation.
The series finale between the once first place competing teams begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.
