Rambelles Leave Lawton on High Note, Win 5-4

LAWTON, OK – After falling in the first two games of their series against the Aggies, the Rambelles were able to fight back in the finale to take a 5-4 victory. Angelo State benefited from a huge three run bout in the top of the second inning after striking early with a single run in the top of the first. It was a few big time multi-base hits and a strong relief outing from Meagan Hill that carried the Rambelles to victory in their last chance to win in Lawton.

Angelo State struck in the first inning thanks to a leadoff single from Hatty Shope followed by an error by the Aggies on Courtney Barnhill's hit that placed Shope on third. Taylor Fogle then hit a ball high and deep enough to plate a run and the Rambelles were up early. Karina Rocha got the ball rolling in Angelo State's biggest inning with a leadoff solo home run. Ashlyn Lerma then brought in herself and Megan Gordon to score with a double and another Aggie error.

ASU would add one more run to give themselves a plus two lead in the top of the fourth as Jade Strother singled and then was brought in by a Logan Graham double. This run would prove to be vital as Cameron would cross the plate once more in the bottom of the fifth, but neither team would score again in the remaining two innings.

Meagan Gordon stepped into the circle in relief after the Aggies scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. She would end up striking out five hitters in six innings of work while only giving up two runs on six hits.

The Rambelles return home to face Texas A&M – Kingsville in their next matchup on Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m.
