DURANGO, Colo. – The Angelo State University women's soccer team kicked off the 2019 season in an impressive shut out over the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks.
In Case You Missed It:
- Trenady Scott led off the scoring run in the 11th minute of the first half receiving a pass from Avery McNeme to give the Belles a 1-0 lead.
- In her freshman collegiate debut, Valerie Solis followed suit with a goal in the 32nd minute. Just less than 45 seconds later, she netted her second goal to insure the 3-0 victory over the Skyhawks.
Head Coach McCorkle's Thoughts:
"Great to see Valerie get a double and step up in our first game. Also great to see Tren step back in right where she left off. I'm happy to see the mature way we handled to game after scoring three and managing the second half. Not allowing a goal in the second half was a promising start for the season. Getting more shut outs this year has been a focal point since last spring."
Key Players:
- Scott finished the day with three shots on goal and one goal.
- Solis made a stellar debut, finishing with two goals and two shots on target.
- McNeme had two assists, while Reagan Urbany had one.
- In goal, Kira Miller grabbed six saves in 90 minutes of action.
