Rambelles Sweep on the Tennis Court

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – The Angelo State Belle tennis team continued regular season play as they face off against both Delta State University and Henderson State University, defeating Delta State 6-1, and Henderson State, 5-0

The Belles are now 5-1 in the regular season.
 
Against Delta State:
In Doubles:  
In Singles:
  • Gonzalez defeated her opponent in two sets, sweeping her opponent in her first set, 6-0, and won the second set, 6-1.
  • Dianela Rodriguez also defeated her opponent in two sets, winning the first set, 6-3. Rodriguez would battle with her opponent in the second set, winning the second set, 7-6 (3), going to a tie breaker and winning.
  • Delgadillo claimed a victory for the Belles as she defeated her opponent in two straight sets, winning the first set, 6-1, and sweeping her opponent in the second set, 6-0.
  • Gubbles fought valiantly in her match against Delta State, but would fall in a hard-fought loss in set one, losing 7-6 (4) in the tiebreaker. Gubbles would attempt to make a comeback to win set two, but would lose 6-3.
  • Schneemann would win her first set against her opponent, 7-6 (3), winning the tiebreaker, but the match would end before she could start the second set.
  • Lucie Maitrot would win her first match as well, sweeping her opponent 6-0, and was down in set two, 2-3, before her match was called to an end.
  • ASU would defeat the Delta State Statesmen, 6-1, and would look forward to facing the Henderson State Reddies.
 
Against Henderson State:
In Doubles:  
In Singles:
  • Delgadillo would make short work of her opponent, winning her first set 6-3, and making quick work of the Reddie in the second set, 6-1.
  • Ovcina would follow in Delgadillo's footsteps and make quick work of her opponent, taking the first set against Henderson State 6-3, and winning the second set, 6-1.
  • Gonzalez lost her first set to a strong Henderson player, 6-4, but came back in the second set to win, 6-3, leaving a third set. Gonzalez would defeat the Reddie player in set three, 6-2, giving ASU its fourth point of the match.
  • Rodriguez would fall in the first set, 6-4, and would be in the lead in the second set when the set would go unfinished.
  • Gubbels would also follow in both Delgadillo's and Ovcina's footsteps, defeating her opponent in set one, 6-1, and sweeping her opponent in set two, 6-0, giving ASU its fifth point of the night.
  • Becht would sweep her opponent in the first set, 6-0, and would have to leave the second set unfinished while in the lead, 4-1.
  • ASU would defeat the Henderson State Reddies in Arkansas, 5-0.
 
Up Next:
The Belles host both the Northeastern State Riverhawks and the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons on Saturday, February 29. Match times will start at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
