No. 5 Rams Travel for Series Against UAFS

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team will continue Lone Star Conference action this weekend as the Rams travel to take on UAFS in a four-game series beginning on Friday, Feb. 11.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Rams split their opening series of the season, going 2-2 against UT Tyler last week. ASU took game one, winning 9-4, and game four, 5-4, but couldn't find a win on the doubleheader. Jordan Williams batted .417 on the weekend, collecting four RBIs while Price Siemering holds a 0.00 ERA through six innings of work with four hits and five strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY:
All-Time Series: ASU leads the all-time series 3-1
Last Meeting: May 15, 2021: ASU, 10-1 – San Angelo, Texas
The Rams and Lions have met for one series in program history, competing at the end of last season where the Rams won two out of three at home. ASU took game one, 20-3 while splitting the doubleheader, losing 13-4 before bouncing back to win 10-1.
 
SCOUTING UAFS:
The Lions also enter the weekend with a 2-2 record after splitting their opening series against Lubbock Christian, including a 17-6 win in game four to end the weekend. UAFS is hitting .317 through the first four games of the season while the pitching staff holds a 9.96 ERA.
 
Logan Grant leads the Lions on the mound, holding a 4.15 ERA in his only appearance of the season, picking up the win with 4.1 innings of work with two hits, two runs, and six strikeouts. At the plate, Zach Slunder and Mac Moody hold the top batting averages at .500 and .400 respectively while Nolan Riley has brought in the most runs with six RBIs.
 
FASTEST AROUND THE BASES:
The Rams lead the Lone Star in stolen bases with 11 on the season which ranks fifth in Division II. Tripp Clark leads the team with three steals on three attempts while Jackson Hardy is 2-for-2.
 
QUICK HITS:
-Siemering is one of seven pitchers in the LSC to have a 0.00 ERA though he is tied for the second most inning pitched in that group with six.
-Williams is the leading batter for the Rams with a .417 average while also tallying the most RBIs with four.
-The Rams are eighth in the country in Hit by Pitch with 11 on the season.
