No.12 Angelo State Travels for Series Against Eastern New Mexico

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 12th-ranked Angelo State baseball team will look to bounce back this week as the Rams travel for a Lone Star Conference series against Eastern New Mexico beginning Thursday, April 14.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Rams dropped their first series of the year, falling to West Texas A&M three games to one. ASU avoided the sweep on the final day, winning game four 12-6. Aaron Walters collected four RBIs in the win while Carson Childers improved to 4-1 overall on the year.

SERIES HISTORY:
All-Time Series: ASU leads the all-time series 60-20
Last Meeting: April 17, 2021: ASU, 19-7 – San Angelo, Texas
The Rams have a strong lead in the all-time series over the Greyhounds, winning 60 out of 80 meetings including the last 10 games in a row. This will be the first time the Rams have played in Portales since the 2019 season when ASU swept all four games. The last win for the Greyhounds came during the 2018 season, winning 7-4 in the first round of the LSC tournament.
 
SCOUTING EASTERN NEW MEXICO:
The Greyhounds hold a 15-21 overall record, going 14-20 in LSC play, and are coming off a series loss to Lubbock Christian who was ranked 23rd at the time. ENMU has picked up series wins over UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler, and St. Mary's this season, going 9-9 while at home.
 
ENMU has the second-worst batting average in the conference, hitting .271 on the year with 305 hits while scoring a league-low 175 runs. Spencer Roach leads the squad with a .386 batting average and 30 RBIs while Nick Schifftner is batting .336 with 31 RBIs. The Greyhounds have a team ERA of 7.53 which is 10th in the Lone Star. Dalton Thatcher has a 4.02 ERA through 40 1/3 innings while Ruger Bravo leads in wins with a 5-3 record.
 
QUICK HITS:
-ASU holds the third-best fielding percentage in the country at .979, leading the Lone Star.
-The Rams have been plunked 87 times this season which is more than any other team in Division II.
-The Rams have stolen 110 bases this season which is the third-most in the country.
-Jake Rogers has seven victories on the year which is the 10th most in Division II.
-Benjamin Elder is second in the LSC in ERA at 3.05
-Austin Beck (16) and Justin Lee (15) are second and third in the conference in stolen bases.
