#10 Rambelles Sweep St. Edward's

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team improved to 17-3 inside Mayer Field this season with a pair of victories over St. Edward's on Friday, with both games seeing the Rambelles score ten runs in each game and walking off both contests, coming from behind to win game one 10-9 before the Rambelles run-ruled the Hilltoppers in five innings 10-2 in game two.

The Hilltoppers started the scoring in game one with a five-spot in the third inning, with the Rambelles quickly responding with six runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Ashlyn Lerma led off the third inning with a walk; Paxton Scheurer and Lindsey Evans followed with a single and a Hilltopper throwing error to load the bases.

Ashlynn Box singled to left field to score a pair of runs to make it 5-2; Madison Fernandez drew a walk to load the bases, and next batter Keilei Garcia followed with a walk of her own to score another run.

A pitching change followed, and Mykayla Stroud welcomed the new pitcher into the game with an RBI single up the middle on a full count. The Rambelles would score on consecutive fielding errors by the Hilltoppers to retake the lead, 6-5.

The Rambelles held the same one-run lead into the sixth inning; a Fernandez double preceded Garcia's third home run, a laser over the right-centerfield fence to make it 8-5.

Three Hilltoppers hits and a pair of Rambelles errors saw the visitors take a 9-8 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

One-out walks by Lerma and Schuerer set the table for Evans, who hit a ground-rule double to tie the game. On the next pitch, Box singled to left field, her second walk-off of the season.

Despite not having her best outing of the season, Genesis Armendariz earned her 17th win, striking out four in her 12th complete game.

The Rambelles struck first in game two, scoring two runs without producing a hit in the first inning, drawing four walks and one hit batter.

A two-RBI triple for the Hilltoppers in the third inning tied the game, with the Rambelles immediately responding with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame.

With one out and a full count, Fernandez doubled to left-center before her pinch runner, Katie Burris, scored on a Garcia RBI single up the middle.

A single and a walk would load the bases before Lerma earned a walk after a nine-pitch at-bat to score their second running of the inning, making it 4-2.

One inning later, Garcia would deliver another RBI single to make it 5-2; Haylie Mitchell singled through the left side to plate another run, and Lerma followed with a two-RBI single to make it 8-2.

Garcia would single up the middle in the fifth inning to score two more runs and give the Rambelles a walk-off, run-rule victory to end the evening.

Torrey Hogan earned her 15th win, striking out six and allowing four hits in five innings.

The Rambelles are now 35-8 overall and 19-7 in conference play; they play their final home games of the season tomorrow against St. Mary's, who are coming off a split against Lubbock Christian.
