Belles Tennis Hits the Road for Trio of Matches

SAN ANGELO – Coming off a successful weekend where they claimed a pair of home conference victories, the Angelo State women's tennis team hits the road as they travel to Arkansas for a couple of matches before ending their weekend in Oklahoma.

The Belles, who are 10-5 overall on the season and 3-1 in conference play, face Arkansas Tech on Thursday in a non-conference match before facing UAFS on Friday and Cameron on Saturday, with the last two matches counting towards the LSC standings.

The doubles pairing of Eva Schwartz and Esther Bowers went 2-0 this past weekend at line three; on the season, Schwartz is 9-5 in doubles play while Bowers is 5-2.

This season, the Belles' number two pairing of Ramitha Irrinki and Ayda Guler is 10-5.

Three Belles have recorded ten or more wins this season in singles play, led by Dianela Rodriguez's 11-2 record this spring. The nation's 17th-ranked singles player won twice at line one this past weekend, defeating DBU's Caroline Hudson and 36th-ranked Anda Ghinga from Midwestern State.

Irrinki is 11-3 in singles play while Schwartz is 10-4; Irrinki has also clinched four times this season, while no one has done so more than once.

Playing at line six, Alexandra Vishnevskaya won twice this past weekend and improved to 5-0 in singles play this season. The Russian clinched for the Belles over Midwestern State, pulling out a gritty, three-set win at line six.

Arkansas Tech is 4-1 in terms of common opponents, splitting with Northeastern State while defeating Ouachita Baptist twice and Henderson State. The Belles went 3-0 against all three teams back on opening weekend.

Lea Grinberg, the nation's 54th ranked singles player, is 11-4; she and partner Daniela Baez are 9-3 in doubles play and are 9-3 this season.

This will be the first matchup between the Belles and the Golden Suns.

SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS
UAFS is 1-9 overall on the season and 0-4 in conference play; their lone win, over Division III opponent University of the Ozarks, came on March 1st.

These teams met last year, with the Belles sweeping the Lady Lions in San Angelo. This will be their first matchup in Fort Smith.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron, the fifth-ranked team in Division II, is 13-2 this season, with their losses coming against NJCCA powerhouse Tyler Junior College and Division I UT-Arlington.

This season, the Aggies have five wins over ranked opposition, including beating then-fifth ranked Columbus State back on February 24th.
