Top-Ranked Rams Complete the Comeback with Walk-Off Win Over #8 St. Edward's

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The top-ranked Angelo State baseball team pulled off an extra-inning comeback in walk-off fashion, defeating No. 8 St. Edward's 7-6 in 11 innings of Friday night at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
 
With the victory, the Rams improve to 37-6 overall on the year and 35-6 in Lone Star Conference play.
 
The Rams opened the game with a run in the first inning as Thomas Cain came around to score on a sac fly by Tripp Clark for an early lead.
 
In the bottom of the third, ASU added a run on an RBI double by Jacob Guerrero to score Cain for the second time to make it 2-0.
 
The Hilltopper scored their first run in the fourth inning with a solo home run over the right field wall.
 
ASU got the run back in the bottom half of the inning as Justin Harris singled to score Jordan Williams.
 
Aaron Munson started on the mound for the Rams, throwing 4 1/3 innings with one run on six hits to go along with six punchouts.
 
SEU tied the game in the sixth inning after capitalizing on a fielding error to score two unearned runs to make it 3-3. The Hilltoppers took the lead in the next inning, hitting a three-run shot over the right field wall.
 
Down 6-3 in the ninth inning, Kamden Kelton led off with a walk before advancing to second on a groundout. Cain hit a single followed by a groundout from Clark to score Kelton. Austin Beck tied the game with a two-RBI double to right center to send the game into extra innings.
 
Jackson Haga picked up the win, pitching 2 2/3 innings with only one hit while striking out four batters.
 
After neither team could score in the 10th, Cain led off the 11th inning with a walk before Guerrero doubled to put him on third. A single by Clark sealed the game to give the Rams the win in game one.
 
Cain finished with three hits to lead the Rams while Clark collected three RBIs on the night.
 
The Rams and Hilltoppers continue the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
