Rambelles Down ECU 4-0 for First Victory of the Season

San Angelo, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team defeated East Central 4-0 Saturday afternoon to get its first win of the season at the ASU Soccer Complex.

ASU (1-0-1) was pressuring the East Central defense all half long until at the end of the first half Isabella Hernandez drove down the right side of the field and crossed the ball into the box for a tap-in for Abby James in the 41rst minute to get the Rambelles on the board.

The Rambelles came out of the halftime break still pressuring the Tigers backline, as Abigail Gutierrez hit one from outside the box to give the Rambelles the lead 2-0 and her first goal as an Rambelle.

The Belles out shot the Tigers 25 to five with 15 shots on target compared to three from ECU. Amber Lockwood recorded her first clean sheet with the Belles collecting three saves on the day.

In the 78th minute the Belles got the third goal of the day when Emily Thames received a corner kick from Abby James and knocked it in the back of the net.

The Belles tallied the final goal of the match in the 82nd minute when Brianna Rodriquez was on the backside of the goal where she knocked in the first goal of her collegiate career and the fourth of the day for the Rambelles.

The Rambelles are starting a five game road trip on Sept. 7th when they take on Colorado School of Mines.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: "The Game was a good reaction from Thursday night where we expended a lot of energy chasing that result, so for us to come out and get 25 shots and 15 of those on goal was good. If I was to be disappointed in something it would be for us to be a little more precise in the penalty area, we could have had a couple more goals, but defensively a much better performance, much stronger performance. All goals came from subs, they're doing a great job."
