SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team picked up their sixth straight sweep inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena this evening by dispatching RV DBU in three sets on Friday evening.
The Rambelles took set one 30-28 before taking set two 25-18 and finishing the win with a 25-19 decision in set three.
The Belles hit .293 for the match, becoming only the third team to sweep the Lady Patriots this season.
The tightly contested match saw the two teams record four aces and 42 assists, and the Belles out-dug DBU 51-50. The Belles' defense stood out at the net, recording eight blocks to DBU's four.
Madi Parrish led all players with 18 kills; she also hit .273 and had seven digs.
Evelyn Torres recorded her 11
th double-double of the season with ten kills and 16 digs. The graduate student also added in an ace and a pair of blocks.
Sydney Thornton and
Demi Carter led the Belles with five blocks each; Thornton did not commit an error, knocking down eight kills on 13 swings for a .615 hitting percentage. Carter had seven kills and hit .250.
Adeline Ortman assisted the Belles' attackers 34 times, digging eight DBU attacks and recording three kills. Libero
Caleigh Enax ended the match with 11 digs, her twelfth match in a row in double figures in digs.
The Belles enter the final day of the regular season with a 24-2 overall record and a 14-1 record in LSC play. They face UT Tyler on Senior Day, with the match to determine the two seed at the LSC Tournament set to start at 2 p.m.
