Rambelles Draw With Rangers

San Angelo, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team earned a point against Regis in a physical matchup that resulted in a 0-0 draw at the newly renovated Legrand Soccer Complex.

The Rambelles move to 2-1-2 with the draw after today's contest. While, the Rangers move to 1-4-1 on the season.

The Belles would get their first shot of the contest in the 8th minute when Graycen Rasmussen would receive a through ball from Madison Maxey with the shot going just high of the goal.

Mariah Griffin would record the first shot on goal for the Rambelles as she would run down the left flank into the box and then break down a defender whipping the ball around another defender that would end up right at the goal giving the Regis keeper Grace Glover her first save of the night.

Madison Bourzikas would break down the defense in the middle of the field getting off a shot that would end up in a diving save by the Regis goalkeeper Glover.

In the fourth minute of the match, Amber Lockwood recorded her first and only save of the contest when Alex Baer of Regis got a hold of one outside the box that would end up being right at Lockwood.

At halftime, the Rambelles would have five shots compared to the one of Regis.

Angelo State would continue the pressure that they have put on the back line throughout the first half of the contest. Katelin Heise would get a hold of one from outside of the box that would end up missing high in the first minute of the second half.

The defense of the Rambelles would be the story of the game only allowing three shots in the contest and one on goal.

With the draw, Amber Lockwood would record her fourth shutout in five games, and her 11th as a Rambelle after recording one save in the contest. Lockwood would record two shutouts on the week only recording seven saves over the two contest.

The Rambelles will back in action on Sept. 28th at 1 p.m. when they open up conference play against Texas Woman's.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: Q: What does your defense do so well that makes it so tough  to score on them? " It was simple defending for us today to be honest with you. We only allowed three shots and one of them was on goal. I'm disappointed tonight for us to come out of this contest with a draw after having 12 shots at home compared to their three shots."

Q: You had your opportunities from the attacking third what went wrong for the attack tonight?  "Offensively, I just don't think we were clean enough technically the quality on all parts of the offense was just lacking tonight. We had 12 shots and three on goal for me it is a tough tie to take because it's not a good performance on our side. Sometimes draws feel like wins and some feel like losses it just feel like we did all we could to win, but we just didn't see what matters the most the ball in the back of the net."
