AUSTIN – The Angelo State men's basketball team fell to St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon inside the Recreation and Athletics Center in Austin by a score of 72-57.
The Rams, who only trailed by a point at the half, were undone by turnovers as the Hilltoppers defense forced the Rams into committing 22 turnovers.
The Hilltoppers turned those 22 turnovers into 26 points off turnovers. They also shot 64 percent from the field after the intermission.
Shemar Smith led the Rams in scoring with 12 points, also grabbing three rebounds.
Sterling Gaston-Chapman scored 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field. He grabbed six rebounds as the Rams out-rebounded the Hilltoppers 31-28.
Kaden Evans had nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a team-high 38 minutes on the floor.
Carvell Teasett had seven points, while
Jalen Gilmore and
Blessing Adesipe had six points each.
The Rams are 11-8 on the season and 7-6 in LSC play. They are back home next Thursday to host Sul Ross State.
