No. 11 Rambelles Cap Undefeated Weekend with 10-1 Victory

Conroe, Texas – The Angelo State softball team closed off their opening weekend with a 10-1 run-rule victory over Southeastern Oklahoma in their final game of the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, as the Rambelles leave the Scrap Yards Sports facility with a 5-0 record after the weekend.

Paris Brienesse and Averie Gunther reached base to lead off the bottom of the first, with Tatiana Trotter doubling to score Brienesse. Laylonna Applin followed with a double of her own to score two more runs.

Erin Plunkett, the next batter, singled up the middle to plate Applin and make it 4-0 before the Rambelles recorded an out.

Lauren De La Cruz would double later in the inning to make it 5-0 after the opening frame.

Trotter walked in the second inning to set up Applin, who homered for the third time this weekend to make it 7-0.

Gunther's sacrifice fly in the third inning pushed the Rambelles' lead to eight runs, with the Rambelles scoring two more runs on an Applin double later in the inning.

The Savage Storm would score a run in the fourth inning to make it 10-1.

Cheyenne Floyd picked up her third win of the weekend, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run while striking out three Southeastern batters in three innings.

Matie Wolkow threw the final two innings in relief, allowing two hits and two walks but not allowing a run.

The Rambelles are 5-0 on the season and are back home next weekend to host the ASU George and Ola McCorkle Challenge Presented by West Texas Steel.
