Rambelles Drop Contest Against Lady Buffs

CANYON, Texas - The Angelo State women's basketball team dropped their second game of their four-game road this afternoon to West Texas A&M, with the Lady Buffs Claiming an 66-59 win over the Rambelles inside the First United Bank Center.
 
With the loss, the Rambelles fall to 16-7 overall and 12-5 in Lone Star Conference action.
 
40 Minute Rundown
  • Addy Burns scored the team's first four points of the contest from the free-throw line to tie the game 4-4 with 6:51 remaining in the first quarter.
  •  Burns knocked down a three for the team's first field goal to make the game 9-7 in favor of the Lady Buffs.
  •  Burns knocked down her second three of the quarter to bring the deficit within three, 13-10, going into the second quarter of action. 
  • At the 3:58 marker of the second quarter Burns hit her third three of the contestto bring the score 25-22 in favor of the Lady Buffs.
  • Taylor Grona brought the Rambelles deficit within one after a transition layup, 25-24.
  • Another layup from Grona would send the Rambelles into halftime down, 35-29.
  • Madeline Stephens knocked down her first points of the contest at the 8:05 marker of the third quarter to bring the Rambelles within six, 37-31.
  • Burns knocked down two clutch free throws at the 5:46 marker of the fourth quarter to bring the Belles within two, 46-44.
  • A three from Grona brought the Belles within one, 52-51, with 3:55 remaining in the contest.
  • Stephens would hit a jumper as time expired, but it wouldn't matter as they Belles would fall 66-59.
 
Game Stats
  • Grona recorded a career-high 19 points on 6-14 shooting.
  • Burns led all scorers scoring 20 points. Burns scored all 10 points for the Rambelles in the first quarter.
  • Keniah Williams as one point shy of her ninth double-double of the year as she scored nine points and recorded 13 rebounds, and four blocks.
  • The Blue and Gold shot 28 percent (20-72) from the field, 29 percent (5-17) from beyond the arc, and 77 percent (14-18) from the free throw line.
  • The Lady Buffs would win the rebound battle 52-48.
  • The Rambelles won the turnover battle 11-17
  • The Belles never led in the contest and tied the score one time at the 6:51 marker of the first quarter.
