SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 4 Angelo State softball team will make its home debut on Friday at 12 p.m. in the first game of the ASU George McCorkle Classic held at the ASU Softball Complex.
The Rambelles are 8-1 on the season after going 3-1 in the Southeastern Regional Invitational this past weekend. It will be the home opener for ASU and the team will look to go 12-0 in home openers since 2002. The Rambelles have a record of 189-33 at the ASU Softball Complex under head coach
Travis Scott.
Morgan Spearman is the Rambelles leading hitter with a .429 average. She has 12 hits with two being home runs.
Kacie Easley, who belted two home runs this past weekend, is five home runs shy of tying the ASU career home run record of 39 held by Macy Baker.
Sandra Serna had another stellar weekend going 2-0 and lowering her earned-run average to 1.30. She struck out a season-high nine against Southeastern Oklahoma.
Mary Kate McKay moved to 3-1 and has thrown 29.0 innings this season in five appearances.
The ASU George McCorkle Classic will be eight games spread over three days. Angelo State will play in five of the eight games.
Colorado-State Pueblo will be opening their season this weekend. The ThunderWolves with 26-19 last year and is under new head coach Christie Zinanti. The Rambelles are 4-0 all-time against Pueblo. CSU-Pueblo will also play five games over the weekend . ASU will face the ThunderWolves at 12 p.m. on Friday and Sunday at 12 p.m.
UT-Permian Basin brings in a record of 1-9 on the season. ASU holds a 14-1 series advantage and 9-0 at the ASU Softball Complex. The Rambelles will face UTPB at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday
The Rattlers of St. Mary's has a 7-4 record and has already been defeated by ASU at the St. Mary's Classic. The Rambelles hold a 28-25 all time advantage over St. Mary's. ASU will face St. Mary's on Friday at 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 on Saturday.
The first game will be at 12 p.m. on Friday against Colorado State-Pueblo. All Angelo State games will be web streamed on AngeloSports.com. The game with St. Mary's on Friday at 2:15 p.m. will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
