Rambelles Welcome Eastern New Mexico

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team will play its Lone Star Conference three-game series home opener against Eastern New Mexico tomorrow at 6 p.m. and two games on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. at the ASU Softball Complex.
 
The Rambelles are 17-6 and 3-0 in the LSC after sweeping Cameron to open conference play. ASU is 8-1 since the ASU George McCorkle Classic with the only loss coming on the road to UTPB.
 
The team is hitting .369 during the stretch compared to .289 through the first 14 games. The team has 24 home runs on the season with 14 coming over the last nine games. Run production and slugging percentage are also up over the stretch.
 
Lauren Smith, Kacie Easley and Rachel Moore are hitting over .500 over the last nine games. Smith (.424), Easley (.420) and Morgan Spearman (.400) are hitting over .400 for the season.
 
Smith leads ASU and the LSC with 11 doubles and has hit 26 RBI's. Easley has walked 17 times on the season including six walks in the series with Cameron. She has the Rambelles top slugging percentage at .797.
 
Mary Kate McKay and Sandra Serna are a combined 7-1 over the last nine games and are 16-6 on the season. Serna has a 10-2 record with 55 strikeouts and a 2.58 earned-run average. McKay is 3-1 over the last nine game with 11 strikeouts and a 3.50 ERA.
 
Lanie Robinson and Kacie Brann have also seen action over on the mound. Robinson started against UTPB and earned the victory with four innings of work. Brann has seen three appearances. The freshman has pitched four innings giving up no hits and no runs over the last nine games.
 
Eastern New Mexico brings a record of 6-21 and 0-3 into the contest. The Zias are hitting .284 as a team and have a team ERA of 8.50.
