Easley's Walk-Off Home Run Gives ASU Series Over No. 1 West Texas A&M

SAN ANGELO, Texas -
 The Angelo State softball team took the series from No. 1 West Texas A&M with two wins on Friday and the second coming in dramatic fashion with a two run walk-off home run by Kacie Easley at the ASU Softball Complex.
 
After winning game one 8-6 the Rambelles (24-10, 9-3 LSC) found themselves down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning to No. 1 West Texas A&M (27-4, 9-3).
 
Kacie Easley came to bat with Morgan Spearman on second base. Spearman led the inning off with a walk and was sacrificed over on a bunt by Lauren Smith.
 
The senior, who was 1-for-3 in the game, took the second pitch from Hannah Newcomb and launched it into the wind in left field. The ball carried over the left field fence for Easley's sixth home run of the year and 38th of her career. It is the Rambelles third Lone Star Conference series win of the year and the first time ASU has won this year trailing after six innings.
 
Sandra Serna was pitching in relief of ASU starter Mary Kate McKay and threw four innings of three hit ball for her 15th victory of the season. She only allowed one run which was a solo home run by Lacey Seidl in the fifth inning that gave WT a 3-2 advantage.
 
West Texas A&M jumped out to an early lead in the second inning with two runs off McKay. ASU would answer it in the fourth with a RBI by Maddy McGarity and Rachel Moore scored after a single and an error to tie it at 2-2 after four innings.
 
The first game of the day was a slug fest with the teams combining for 19 hits and 14 runs.
 
West Texas A&M scored a run in the first and third innings before ASU would answer in the bottom of the third.
 
McGarity hit a single up the middle and would score on a RBI single by Easley. Smith recorded her second single of the day and would later score. Moore hit a single and scored on a Darian Dunn single to right field to make it 3-2 ASU.
 
The Lady Buffs would tie it in the fourth after Mercedes Garcia hit a triple and would score on a sacrifice fly.
 
Ambra Hill gave the Rambelles the lead right back singling for her first hit of the day and scoring on Spearman's single to right field.
 
WT would continue to chip away at the lead with another run in the top of the fifth before ASU extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Holly Vanden Bossche and Brittney Davis would score with one-out to make it 6-4. Moore added to the cushion with her fifth home run of the year to left field to make it 8-4.
 
Allie Cranfill hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to close it to 8-6 before Serna got the third out. The junior would retire West Texas A&M in order in the seventh for the victory.
 
ASU will return to the diamond on Friday at 7 p.m. to face Incarnate Word.
