SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team swept its doubleheader with UTPB with 8-3 and 4-1 wins at Mayer Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Rambelles (11-5) scored six runs in the second inning of game one to pull away and limited the Falcons (3-12) to only five hits and one run in game two.
In game one, ASU had to answer a first inning run by UTPB.

The Falcons took a 2-1 lead after chasing
Sandra Serna out in the second inning. The bottom of the second inning was a big one for the Rambelles as
Carly Peters reached second base after a dropped fly ball by the right fielder.
The Rambelles rolled off six-straight hits starting with a double by
Megan Granado that scored Peters.
Ambra Hill recorded a bunt single to load the bases and Spearman plated both Hill and Granado.
Micherie Koria hit a bunt single and Dunn added two more RBI to put ASU up 6-2.
Rachel Moore added the sixth run of the inning with a double to score Dunn from second place.
Mary Kate McKay came in to relieve Serna in the second and only allowed one earned run over five and two-thirds of an inning. McKay moves to 1-1 on the season.
Spearman scored
Luz'Ce Baca in the fifth for the final 8-3 final.
ASU scored early in the second game. Moore plated Spearman with a double for an early 1-0 lead.
Urbany, who started game two in the circle, helped her own cause with a home run to center. It is the freshman's second home run of the season.
The Helotes native turned around and held the Falcons to five hits over seven innings and only one earned run in the second inning. Urbany is now 6-1 on the season.
UTPB did threaten in the fourth after Urbany gave up three walks to load the bases. She forced a pop up to third base in foul territory to get out of the inning.
Hill got her third hit of the day and would score on a single by Koria. Moore would earn her second RBI of the game plating Koria from second base.
