No. 14 Rambelles Set for Road Series with Texas A&M International

SAN ANGELO – The No. 14 Angelo State softball team hits the road to face Texas A&M International in a three game non-conference series in Laredo on Sunday and Monday.

The Rambelles are 27-10-1 after a doubleheader sweep of UTPB on Wednesday night at Mayer Field. ASU is 7-4-1 on the road. Angelo State, the conference leader in team ERA with a 2.44, hit .373 against UTPB in the doubleheader sweep. The doubleheader game on Saturday will start at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. followed by a single game on Monday at 12 p.m. 

Brandy Marlett, named one of the top 25 finalists for the NFCA Freshman of the Year, is now 15-4 on the season with a 1.54 earned run average. She has 122 strikeouts which is No. 10 on the ASU single season list. The Henderson, Nev., native has limited opponents to a .200 batting average. She has only given up 29 earned runs and 5.05 hits per seven innings. Marlett has also shutout six opponents on the year.

Kenedy Urbany held UTPB to just two runs on seven hits to move to 12-6 on the season. She has struck out 50 and is holding teams to a .270 batting average. The Helotes native has thrown 11 complete games and three shutouts. Urbany has a 2.89 ERA in 109.0 innings.

The Rambelle offense scored 14 runs on 19 hits against UTPB. Urbany recorded four hits, four RBIs and two doubles including a walk-off double in game two. The sophomore slugged .857 in the series and leads the team with a team high .699 slugging percentage. She is hitting .369 on the season with 38 hits, six doubles, two triples and eight home runs. Urbany leads the team with 31 RBIs and has drawn 18 walks.

Tina Cisneros has the best average at .396 on the season and is tied for the team lead with 12 doubles. She recorded two doubles against UTPB along with two RBIs. The Dripping Springs native leads the team with 12 doubles and 12 multiple hit games. She also has 21 RBIs on the season.

Madison Greenwell increased her hitting streak to 14 games. The freshman has 45 hits on the season, four doubles, two triples and 11 RBIs. She has scored 20 runs and stolen 18 stolen bases. Fellow freshman Ciara Sheppard has a .375 average on the year. The Midland native has recorded 21 hits with five doubles and one home run.

Micherie Koria stole two bases against UTPB to increase her season total to 30 on the season. She is currently No. 9 on the single season stolen base list. The senior is hitting .354 with 34 hits, two doubles , one triple and one home run. She has scored a team high 22 runs and batted in 19 RBIs. Koria is tied with Laura Lopez for the most sacrifice hits in a single season with 14. She is No. 3 on the all-time career list with 27 sacrifice hits.  

Megan Granado recorded three hits and scored three times against UTPB. The senior has a .346 average with 34 hits and 22 runs scored. She is tied for the team lead with 12 doubles. The Lubbock native has drawn 18 walks and has scored 21 runs.

Lanie Robinson has a .318 average on the year and drawn nine walks. She has 28 hits with three doubles and 14 RBIs. The junior has 10 games with multiple hits and four multiple RBI games.

Camry Weinheimer hit a double that scored three RBIs against UTPB. The freshman has seven doubles on the season to go along with her 20 hits. Ambra Hill has stolen 10 bases on the year with 16 hits. The Big Spring native is batting .314 on the season with 16 hits and 16 runs.

Rachel Moore hit .500 against UTPB with three hits and scoring two runs. The senior has 24 hits, four doubles and two home runs on the year. She has scored 16 runs scored and 20 RBIs which is third on the team. Moore also leads the team with 21 walks on the year.

Texas A&M International is 20-19 on the season. The Dustdevils are hitting .263 on the season with Brittany Mussett hitting .370. She has 47 hits with 31 RBIs. Sarah Johnson is leading TAMIU in the circle with a 2.79 ERA and an 8-2 record.

The Rambelles hold a 27-1 all-time series lead on the Dustdevils. ASU owns a 2-0 season series advantage after a 10-1 win and 5-2 victory at the ASU George McCorkle Challenge.
