No. 12 Rambelles Set for Road Series with Midwestern State

SAN ANGELO – The No. 12 Angelo State softball team will head to Wichita Falls for a four game Lone Star Conference series with Midwestern State on Friday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3:30 p.m. at Mustangs Park.

The Rambelles (24-7-1, 9-6-1 LSC) split their season series with Tarleton State bouncing back to win Saturday's doubleheader. ASU is 6-1-1 on the road this season and 9-7 all-time in Wichita Falls.  Angelo State is currently No. 3 in the LSC standing heading into the weekend series.

ASU has the 10th best on base percentage nationally at .431 and have the No. 25 batting average of .339. The Rambelles steal 1.94 bases per game which is No. 25 nationally.  Angelo State leads the LSC in ERA (2.29) and is No. 2 in fielding percentage (.971).

Brandy Marlett, who is No. 18 nationally with a 1.19 ERA, went 1-0 with a save over the weekend. The freshman is 13-2 on the season with two saves and 15 complete games. She has six shutouts on the season which is the sixth most in the nation.  The Henderson, Nev., native has held teams to three hits or less in 12 of her 20 appearances this season including a no-hitter against St. Mary's. She leads the league with 107 strikeouts this season.

Kenedy Urbany bounced back for her 11th win of the season on Saturday. She is 11-5 on the year with nine complete games. The Helotes native has a 2.85 ERA on the season and has thrown three shutouts. The sophomore has struck out 42 batters and has only allowed 28 walks in 91.0 innings pitched.

Tina Cisneros moved into the team lead in average after hitting .556 against Tarleton State. The senior has a .395 average with 32 hits, nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. She has recorded 15 RBIs and scored 14 runs. The Dripping Springs native is one of five Rambelles to draw double-digit walks with 11.

Madison Greenwell is hitting .388 and went 4-for-4 in the series finale with Tarleton State. She leads ASU with 38 hits and has scored 18 runs on the year. The freshman has stolen 16 bases on the season and batting in 10 RBIs. Fellow freshman Ciara Sheppard is hitting .373 with 19 hits. She added two RBIs against Tarleton State and now has nine on the year. The shortstop has scored 11 runs and hit four doubles this season.

Ambra Hill, who started her career on the right side of the plate, has excelled this season as a lefty slapper. The junior has a .372 average and recorded her second triple of the season this past weekend. She has 16 hits and scored 15 runs on the season. The Big Spring native is third on the team with nine stolen bases.

Micherie Koria is No. 14 nationally with 27 stolen bases on the season. She is hitting .361 with 30 hits. The San Diego native has two doubles, one triple and one home run to go along with 20 runs scored. She has driven in 18 RBIs and drawn 15 walks on the season.

Urbany leads ASU with a .714 slugging percentage and 25 RBIs. She has a .357 average with 30 hits, four doubles, one triple and eight home runs. She has drawn the second-most walks with 16 and has a .455 on base percentage.

Megan Granado, who made her second pitching appearance in game two, is hitting .349 on the year. She threw 6.2 innings against TSU allowing five hits and four runs while allowing Urbany and Marlett a chance to rest. The senior is tops on the team with 10 doubles and has 29 hits on the year. She has scored 15 runs and batted in 14.

Lanie Robinson is hitting .338 this season with 24 hits and three doubles. She has scored eight runs and drove in 11 RBIs. The Hitchcock native has drawn eight walks as well. Rachel Moore has a .304 average and leads ASU with 17 walks. She has 21 hits, four doubles and two home runs. She is second on the team with 19 RBIs.

Camry Weinheimer saw four starts behind the plate this past weekend and has now started 16 games this season. The freshman is hitting .314 on the year with 16 hits and five doubles. She has recorded 13 RBIs and scored five runs.

The Mustangs enter with a 16-13 overall record and 3-9 in the LSC. Taylor Bermuda is MSU's top hitter with a .375 average. Katy Vandwater leads with 35 RBIs and 32 hits. Tayler Jerrick has the best ERA on the pitching staff at 2.93 while holding a 3-3 record. MSU trails the all-time series 26-14.
