No. 2 Rambelles Travel for Doubleheader with St. Edward's on Wednesday

SAN ANGELO – The No. 2 Angelo State softball team will head to Austin to face St. Edward's in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, March 22 starting at 1 p.m.

The Rambelles (30-2) had their 26-game win streak snapped in the series finale with No. 12 West Texas A&M but took the series 2-1. It is the first time ASU has won a conference series with WT since 2013. Angelo State is 10-1 on the road this season and won nine straight road games.

ASU is hitting .330 as a team and scoring 7.1 runs per game which is No. 14 in Division II. The pitching staff has a team ERA of 1.53 and is holding teams to a .181 batting average. The 1.53 ERA is No. 8 in Division II and No. 1 in the LSC. The Rambelles' 14 shutouts are No. 1 in Division II. The offense has the No. 6 on base percentage of .446 and No. 8 in slugging percentage at .545.

The pitching staff of Morgan Hill, Brandy Marlett and Kenedy Urbany was outstanding, going 6-1 and only allowing four runs in the last week of play. Urbany is leading the staff with a 0.95 ERA and is a perfect 11-0 on the season. It is the 12th best ERA in the nation. She has only allowed 48 hits and is holding teams to a .176 batting average. The 12 runs allowed are tops in the LSC and she has struck out 52 batters.

Marlett duplicated her career high and ASU record with 17 strikeouts against West Texas A&M on Friday night. She is 14-2 on the season with a 1.44 ERA. The junior has only allowed 58 hits in 102.0 innings and struck out the fourth most batters in Division II with 154. She has thrown eight complete games and three complete shutouts and six combined.

Hill is 5-0 on the season with two saves. She has pitched 35.1 innings and only allowed 33 hits and 18 runs. The junior is holding teams to a .243 average and has struck out 32 on the year.

The Rambelles are led in hitting by Courtney Barnhill's .438 average. She has a team-high 39 hits and eight home runs. The Lubbock native also leads the team with a .798 slugging percentage, a .550 on base percentage, 30 RBIs and 29 runs scored. The freshman also has 11 stolen bases and leads the team with a .515 average with runners in scoring position.

Bailey Wallace hold a .375 average with 30 hits, two doubles and two home runs. She is tied for second with 26 runs and has 13 hit by pitches this year. She has broken the ASU career record with 43 hit by pitches.

Madison Greenwell has 36 hits on the season and a .353 average. She has scored 20 runs and recorded two doubles and three triples. The Flower Mound native is one of six player with at least 10 walks with 11 and she has stolen seven bases on the season.

Taegan Kirk is hitting .349 average with 30 hits. She holds the team lead with nine doubles and is third on the team with five home runs. The Lubbock native as scored 22 runs and drawn 12 walks. The junior has 10 multiple hit games and eight multiple RBI games.

Danae Bina has a .342 average with 25 hits. The junior has scored the second most runs with 26 on the season. She leads the team with 16 stolen bases and has drawn 15 walks. The Kansas native has driven in 16 RBI has six doubles with one home run.

Brook Mangold was clutch this past weekend recording the game-winning RBIs in both wins over West Texas A&M. The junior is hitting .314 with 16 hits. She has three doubles and two home runs. The Castroville, Texas, native has 13 stolen bases on the year and has scored 15 runs.

Urbany has 27 hits on the season with six doubles and home runs. She has driven in 23 RBIs and scored 23 times. The Helotes native has drawn 11 walks with a .567 slugging percentage.

Karina Rocha and Alexis Evans has 16 and 17 hits, respectively. Rocha has scored 15 runs and driven in 14 RBI while Evans has 23 RBI and scored 13 runs.

Others Rambelles that have contributed include Katlyn Herzog, Megan Gordon, Heather Reatherford, Amanda Ramage, Hill, Becky Wilhelm and Jackie Montejano. Herzog is hitting .370 in 27 at-bats on the season. She has 10 hits, two doubles, one triple and two home runs. Gordon has seven hits while Reatherford has scored nine runs.
