SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's volleyball team (16-4, 9-1 Lone Star Conference) will look to extend their seven match winning streak Tuesday evening when they travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
"I'm playing five freshmen, and all of them are doing great things for us," Angelo State head volleyball coach Chuck Waddington said. "There's a lot of good volleyball happening and we're doing good things against good teams."
The Belles have been superb all year defensively, leading the conference in opponent hitting percentage, ranking second in opponent kills per set and fourth in blocks per set. Baleigh Allen has led the Belles at the net all year long, recording 62 blocks on the season. Sundara Chinn and Sophia Berg have also been excellent at the net, recording 47 and 42 blocks, respectively. Anna Graham and Audrey Fragniere round out the top five with totals of 34 and 25.
Sundara Chinn and Makenna Hanssen lead the Belles in digs with 212 and 200 digs, respectively. Libero Chloe Robinson and setter Meghan Parker are not far behind, with 180 and 175, and Morgan Preston rounds out the top five with 140.
Offensively, the Belles have been led all season long by Audrey Fragniere and Sundara Chinn, who have posted 199 and 180 kills, respectively. Anna Graham has been playing lights out the last few weeks and ranks third on the team with 153, and Baleigh Allen is not far behind with 139 on a .330 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the Lone Star Conference.
Setter Meghan Parker has been superb all season, ranking second in the conference in total assists with 731 for an average of 10.01 per set played. She also ranks second in the conference with 31 service aces.
Bailey Drum, Makenzie Griffin, Brianna Hudson, and Grace White have all made important contributions to the team this season. Drum ranks sixth on the team in total kills with 72. Griffin has excelled in limited playing time this season, recording 28 kills in just 17 sets played for an average of 1.65 per set. Hudson has recorded 32 kills in 28 sets played for an average of 1.14 per set, and White has posted 17 kills in 18 sets played.
Texas A&M-Kingsville comes into Tuesday's match with a record of 13-8 (5-5 LSC). The Belles are 59-11 all time against the Javelinas.
