SAN ANGELO, TX – The Angelo State Rambelles dropped their first game against the Texas A&M – Commerce Lions by a score of 4-1 Friday night. Commerce's win streak extends to six games after the strong performance from three time LSC Pitcher of the Week Emily Otto. The game played out as a hard fought seven inning battle with plenty of good softball to go around. There was a total of 14 hits, 10 strikeouts and no errors in the game.
The Rambelles fell behind early in the game after a Lions solo home run in the second inning and a string of hits in the fourth. Angelo State found the score board in the fourth inning on a two out single to left field from Avery Zeigler to drive in her 23rd RBI of the season. ASU made plenty of solid contact, but the Lions were there to reciprocate defensively with a number of huge plays to prevent damage, including a diving center field effort to stoke a Rambelle rally.
Although she collects the loss, Meagan Hill through a solid seven innings against a Lions lineup that averages eight runs a game. The Salado sophomore moves to 11-5 on the year. In her complete game of work, Hill gave up eight hits while striking out six and only walking one. She maintains her sub four ERA on the season.
The series continues tomorrow in doubleheader action tomorrow at 1 p.m.
