LAWTON, OK – The Angelo State Rambelles were scheduled to face the Cameron Aggies in a two game set on Friday after potential weather moved one game forward in the schedule. The Aggies ended up grabbing both wins on the day to take the series win, but face the Rambelles once more on Saturday at 6 p.m. in a game that was also delayed to let the field dry out.
Game one between the Rambelles and Aggies was closely contested until the very end when Cameron drew a walk-off walk to win 5-4. Although the home team committed four errors, they outhit the Rambelles 9-5 and were able to take advantage of a pair of home runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Angelo State kept the game close and commanded the lead twice thanks to their two run fourth inning and then a single run in the fifth. Jade Strother had a clutch single RBI in the top of the sixth to take a one run lead, but the Aggies tacked on one of their own in the bottom of the inning and then had the game-winning run walked in to end the first game. Jade Strother and Taylor Fogle both had good games at the plate by collecting two hits each. Megan Gordon was responsible for the team's fifth hit. Strother also had two RBI.
Angelo State wasn't able to get their offense rolling in the second game as they were held to only four hits and no runs as they dropped the second game 4-0. Cameron was able to grab the early advantage with a crooked three runs in second inning and then plated one more after that. Makayla Corbin had a solid outing from the bullpen as she threw for the final four innings out of the bullpen and gave up no runs and only two hits.
The Rambelles will look to salvage a win in the series in the third and final game of the series against the Aggies on Saturday at 6 p.m.
