SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rambelle softball team would sweep the St. Mary's Rattlers in the final game of the three game series, 10-7.
The Rambelles are 17-6 overall with a 3-3 conference record.
Game One:
Top of the 1
st Inning:
Meagan Hill and the Rambelle defense would have a slow start in the top of the 1
st with two runners quickly making it to first and second base with one out. The Rattlers would advance a base each on a wild pitch, putting St. Mary's in a scoring position, but a pop up to the second baseman and a grounder to the shortstop gave ASU their first chance at-bat.
Bottom of the 1
st Inning:
- Hatty Shope would hit a single to the shortstop and beat the throw, but would be thrown out at second in her attempt to steal.
- Paxton Scheurer would hit a single into right field, with Courtney Barnhill on deck. Barnhill would crush the ball over the fence in right center field, giving the Rambelles a 2-0 lead over the Rattlers and putting Barnhill ahead of Kenedy Urbany as the all-time home run leader in Angelo State history. Barnhill has hit five homeruns in the season so far.
- Ashlynn Box hit a single into left field and advancing to third base on a single from Maleya Burns with two outs in the inning.
- Both Burns and Box would steal on a wild pitch with Box scoring another run for the Rambelles, extending their lead to 3-0.
- Keilei Garcia would hit a double down the right field line, scoring Burns from second for another RBI, extending the Rambelles lead to 4-0 over St. Mary's.

rd Inning:
Hill and the Rambelles would quickly take care of the Rattlers offense as one batter would foul out into left field, one would fly out to center field, and the final batter would hit a ground ball straight to the second baseman.
Top of the 4
th Inning:
Hill would add two more strikeouts to her repertoire with a runner on first base, striking two batters out swinging, as the third out would fly out to the left fielder.
Bottom of the 4
th Inning:
- Shope would walk with Scheurer up to bat for the Rambelles, shortly stealing second after.
- Scheurer would also walk with Barnhill up to bat, who would hit a single into right center field, advancing Scheurer to third and scoring Shope from second base, extending the Rambelles lead to 5-0. Barnhill would steal second shortly afterward.
- Madison Fernandez would smack a double into deep right center field, scoring both Barnhill and Scheurer for two more RBI and giving the Rambelles a 7-0 lead over St. Mary's.
Top of the 5
th Inning:
Makayla Corbin would come in to pitch relief for Hill. St. Mary's would hit a single and the next batter would reach first on a throwing error from Corbin, advancing the runner on first to third. The Rattlers would score on the next hit, cutting the Rambelles lead down to 7-1. The Rambelle defense would keep the Rattlers from scoring for the rest of the inning, throwing the runner out at second, with the final out coming from a grounder to the shortstop.
Top of the 7
th Inning:
The Rambelles would struggle to get their defense going as the Rattlers would tie the game up with six runs at the top of the 7
th inning. Hill would come back in to pitch relief for Corbin with two outs from a grounder to the third baseman and a line drive ball to the second baseman. A Rattler would score on a wild pitch, while another would advance to second.
Victoria Vasquez would come in to relieve Hill to finish the game, as the third out would come from an out at second base with the assist from the shortstop.
Top of the 8
th Inning:
Vasquez and the Rambelle defense would quickly take care of the Rattlers and not let St. Mary's score another run to take the lead from Angelo State. Vasquez would strike one batter out, with the next batter hitting a double into left center field. The third batter would walk, and Vasquez would strike the fourth batter out, and the third and final out would come as the runner at first would get out on a grounder to the shortstop.
Bottom of the 8
th:
- Jade Strother would hit a single into left center field with Ashlyn Lerma on deck to hit for the Rambelles.
- Lerma would reach first on an error from the first baseman, advancing Strother to second base.
- Shope would hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Lerma to second and Strother to third, with Scheurer up to bat for the Rambelles.
- Scheurer would smack a home run out of the park over the right field fence, scoring Lerma and Strother to bring the Rambelles to victory over the Rattlers, 10-7.
