Rambelles to Host Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M International This Weekend

Friday's Match is the Belles' Annual Dig Pink Match

SAN ANGELO – With only six games left on the slate for the Angelo State volleyball team, the Rambelles continue down the home stretch of the 2022 season as they return home this weekend to host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday night and Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon.

Friday night's match against the Javelinas is also the Belles' annual Dig Pink match, where the Belles will don pink uniforms for the match before auctioning them off to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Last season, the Belles raised over 5,000 dollars on their Dig Pink night.

The Belles are 11-11 on the season, and 7-3 in Lone Star Conference play; they sit in a tie for fifth place in the standings with UT Tyler.

The Belles' offense features three attackers with 150 or more kills on the season, led by Sydney Mundkowksy's 176 kills. Hannah Kinnison (172) and Kaila Garnett (156) follow closely behind the Gatesville native.

Setters Laney Dale and Kayla Baer are averaging over five assists per set, with the pair also combining for 27 service aces this season.

Defensively, Caleigh Enax ranks in the top ten in the conference in digs with 341 this season. The sophomore is eighth in digs per set with 4.37 per frame. Additionally, the Haslet native leads the team with 26 service aces this season.

SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 13-8 overall in the season and 5-3 in LSC play. The Javelinas are coming off a 2-0 week where they swept Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico in their home arena.

Jackie Alanis and Ayanna Jackson lead the Javelina offense, with the pair responsible for just under half of all Javelina kills this season. Jackson also leads the conference with a .372 hitting percentage this season.

The Javelina defense is anchored by LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Nicole Murff. The senior libero leads the conference with 5.42 digs per set; as a team, the Javelinas lead the conference with 18.01 dogs per set.

The Javelinas went 2-2 in their last foray into Stephens Arena at the Junell Center, splitting the opening weekend of action at this season's Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.

The Belles have won the last 11 meetings against the Javelinas in San Angelo, last losing in 2005. The last time these two teams met, the Belles swept the Javelinas last season.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International, picked to finish 14th in the LSC Preseason Poll, has been the surprise of the season in the LSC, entering this weekend with a 16-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in LSC play. Like the Javelinas, they are coming off a 2-0 weekend against the Lady Chaps and the Greyhounds.

True freshman setter Emma Lade is metronomic in distributing the ball to Dustdevil attackers, as she leads the conference with 11.08 assists per set. She also leads the team with 26 service aces this season.

The Dustdevils have three attackers with over 240 kills on the season, led by Mackenzie Catalina's 302. The fifth-year senior is hitting .245 and has 24 service aces to her name.

The Belles have won the last five meetings with the Dustdevils and the last four to take place in San Angelo, with the Belles' previous loss to the Dustdevils taking place in 2007. Last season, the Belles swept the Dustdevils to claim victory on their home floor.

Following this weekend, the Belles embark on their final road trip of the regular season, traveling to UAFS and Oklahoma Christian.
