Rambelles Close Regular Season with Series Against Cameron

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team closes the book on their regular season this weekend in Lawton, Oklahoma, when they take on Cameron in a three-game series. The series opens on Friday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader before ending on Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m.

The Rambelles are 29-21 on the season and 21-18 in conference play. They are coming a week in which they went 3-3, taking two of three games from Texas A&M International; on the weekend, they won the series finale against No. 16 Lubbock Christian after dropping two tightly-contested, extra-inning affairs.

The Rambelles currently sit seventh in the Lone Star Conference standings; the top ten teams in the standings qualify for the LSC Tournament, with the top six receiving first-round byes.

The Rambelles are hitting .284 as a team and average 4.9 runs per game; the Rambelles' lineup has the third-most hits in the conference, the second-most home runs, and leads the LSC in stolen bases.

Ashlyn Lerma is coming off a week in which she went 10-for-16 from the plate to improve her season batting average to .404. She has a .514 on-base percentage, having drawn 34 walks. Lerma also tied the ASU single-season steals record this past Sunday against the Lady Chaps with her 58th swipe of the season.

Bailey Martinez has a .357 average on the season; she also hit her third home run of the season against the Lady Chaps this past weekend.

Paxton Scheurer has a .333 average with a team-high 15 home runs and 51 RBIs; she is slugging .673 on the season and hit two home runs against Texas A&M International this past week.

The Rambelle pitchers have a 2.97 ERA and have held opponents to a .235 average this season.

Cheyenne Floyd has a 2.24 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 106.1 innings, while Genesis Armendariz leads the team with 14 wins and three shutouts.
 
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron is 26-18 on the season and 22-14 in conference play; they currently occupy the fifth spot in the LSC standings, 2.5 games ahead of the Rambelles.

The Aggies are 17-3 at home this season and are coming off their bye this past weekend; during their midweek series against Lubbock Christian, they dropped two of three games to the Lady Chaps.

The Aggies are hitting .265 as a team and score 4.2 runs per game. They have three batters hatting above .300 on the season, led by Josie Swafford's .330 average. Karis Clark is hitting .318, and Kaiden Boren has a .315 average with a team-high eight home runs.

The Aggies have a 3.08 ERA and opponents have a .230 average against the Aggie pitchers. Swafford has a 2.73 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 105 innings, while Robyn Bales leads the team with 10 wins on the season.

The Rambelles are 19-16 against the Aggies and are 10-10 in Lawton; last season, the Aggies won both games of the doubleheader against the Rambelles.
