Rambelles Down Oklahoma Christian 81-78 in Overtime

EDMOND, Okla. - The Angelo State women's basketball team needed an extra five minutes to down Oklahoma Christian 81-78 in overtime on Saturday afternoon inside of the Payne Athletic Center.
 
The Rambelles improve to 5-3 overall and are now 3-1 in Lone Star Conference play. The Eagles fall to 4-4 on the season and 1-3 in LSC action.
 
40 MINUTE RUNDOWN
  • The Eagles would start the game on a 10-2 run until a three from Madi Lumsden would bring the deficit to three, 10-7 with 5:30 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Five straight points from Addy Burns helped the Rambelles tie the game,16-16, with 1:52 remaining in the quarter.
  • The Blue and Gold would get their first lead of the contest at the 1:28 marker behind a Keniah Williams layup.
  • Going into the second quarter of action the Eagles would be up 21-18.
  • Majik Esquivel scored five points within in a minute to tie the game once again at 23-23 with 8:28 remaining until halftime.
  • Esquivel's second three of the quarter would give the Rambelles a 26-25 lead with 5:23 remaining until halftime.
  • Oklahoma Christian will be up 36-32 going into halftime.
  • In the third quarter of action the Rambelles would not be able to gain momentum the eagles would keep the Rambelles offense at bay holding a nine point lead heading into the fourth quarter of action.
  • Madeline Stephens would score the first six points for the Rambelles in the fourth quarter bringing the Rambelles deficit to seven, 61-54.
  • The Rambelles would go on a 10-0 run to take the lead, 66-64, with 2:01 remaining in the contest.
  • The Belles would be down with two seconds remaining, but Addy Burns would knock down two free throws to send the game into overtime.
  • Williams would score the first points of over time for the Rambelles giving them a 72-70 advantage with 4:42 remaining.
  • Lumsden third three of the game would give the Rambelles a 79-75 lead with 1:35 remaining the largest of the game for the Rambelles.
  • Burns would knock down two free throws to give the Rambelles a 81-78 victory over the Eagles.
GAME STATS 
  • Burns was the team-leading scorer with a career-high 22 points on 5-11 shooting and 10-10 from the charity stripe. Burns also recorded four rebounds and six assists.
  • The Belles would have five different scorers in double digits Burns 22 points, Lumsden 19, Esquivel 14, Stephens 12, Williams 10.
  • The Rambelles shot 100 percent (14-14) from the free throw line. Their best shooting performance of the season from the stripe.
  • The Rambelles shot 41.7 percent (30-72) from the field, 29 percent (7-24) from behind the arc, and 100 percent (14-14) from the free throw line.
  • A complete performance was turned in offensively by the Blue and Gold, as they registered 16 assist and 34 points from the bench
  • The Belles would lose the rebound battle 36-31, but would win the turnover battle 19-27.
  • The Rambelles would have 21 points off of those 27 turnovers.

The Belles will stay in Oklahoma as they travel to Lawton to take on Cameron on December 16th with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
