SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's basketball team leaned on their defense, which forced 18 turnovers, to best Texas A&M - Kingsville, 58-53, Thursday evening inside the Junell Center - Stephens Arena.

The Rambelles improve to 3-3 overall on the season and move to 1-1 in Lone Star Conference action. The Javelinas fall to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.Â

- Briley Merket scored the first points of the game for the Rambelles after hitting a corner three.
- Merket gave the Rambelles their first lead at the 8:32 marker of the first quarter when she went up for an up-and-under layup, giving the Rambelles a 5-3 lead.Â
