SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team wraps up their longest home stand this week when they host UT Permian Basin on Tuesday and Wednesday at Mayer Field.
The series begins with a single game on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before concluding with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles swept Midwestern State to open conference play this past Thursday and Friday. The Rambelles and WT are the only teams to open LSC play with a 3-0 record.
The Rambelles opened the series with a 3-0 win that saw them record only a single hit; however, their patience at the plate paid off as they drew seven walks and were hit by four pitches, both season highs, to have base runners in every single frame after the first inning.
Game two featured a comeback as the Mustangs scored their first - and only - run of the series in the third inning to take the lead; however, the Rambelles scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to claim the 3-1 win.
The Rambelles' bats woke up for the series finale as they won 10-0 on five hits in a five-inning run rule.
Ashton Dirner struck for two hits and drove in a career-high five runs.
The Rambelles hit .326 as a team, averaging six runs per game. They are slugging .473 and have a .398 on-base percentage. The Rambelles lead the LSC in stolen bases, having swiped 28 bags as a team this season.
Tatiana Trotter is fifth in the LSC with a .485 average and third with 16 RBIs.
Ashton Dirner leads the LSC with eight stolen bases this season.
The Rambelles have a 2.09 team ERA and have struck out 86 batters in 87 innings; opponents are hitting .225 against Rambelles pitching this season.
Cheyenne Floyd leads Division II with eight wins this season, matching her total from a season ago, and is ninth in the country with 46 strikeouts.
Matie Wolkow, who has combined with Floyd for all three of the Rambelles' shutouts this season, has three saves tied for the most in the country. She is one more save from having the seventh-most saves in a season in program history.
