Portales, N.M. – The Angelo State softball team won their second-successive series on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico at the Greyhound Softball Field.
The Rambelles, for the third time in as many games, opened the scoring, pushing a run across in the first inning when
Carter Smith scored on a
Tatiana Trotter double.
Averie Gunther led the second inning off with a double and
Erin Plunkett walked to set up
Zoey De Baca, who doubled to the right-center gap to score the pair of runs and extend the lead to 3-0.
Keilei Garcia homered with two outs in the third inning to make it 4-0. The home run is Garcia's sixth of the season.
Averie Gunther got the start inside the circle, only recording one out and she loaded the bases on a pair of hits and a walk.
Cheyenne Floyd pitched the final 6.2 innings in relief, picking up her 12
th win of the season. After getting a pair of outs to escape the first-inning jam, Floyd only allowed one hit and three walks while striking out seven Greyhounds.
The Rambelles improve to 20-8 on the season and 11-7 in LSC play; they are back home to host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday and Wednesday.
