SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team returns home this weekend to host Western New Mexico in a three-game series.
The series, also Military Appreciation Weekend, will see the two teams play a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. before closing the series with a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Rambelles took two out of three games against St. Mary's this week, claiming games one and two before the Rattlers walked off the Rambelles in game three.

Laylonna Applin's single in the seventh game gave the Rambelles the win.

Cheyenne Floyd threw her second consecutive complete-game shutout, claiming LSC Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Rambelles held a 5-4 lead heading into the final frame in game three; however, the Rattlers fought back to score two runs and avoid the sweep.
The Rambelles hit .282 as a team, averaging 4.8 runs per game. The Rambelles are second in Division II with 16 triples hit this season, which exceeds their total from a season ago. The Rambelles also rank fifth in the country, having been hit by 36 pitches this season.
Averie Gunther has been plunked 14 times, the second-most in the country this season.
Tatiana Trotter is seventh in the LSC with 29 RBI; she leads the LSC with six triples and ranks third nationally.
The Rambelles have a 2.20 team ERA, third-best in the LSC, and lead the league with seven saves. They have struck out 177 batters in 222.1 innings, and opponents only hit .245 against the Rambelles, the sixth-best mark in the LSC.
Cheyenne Floyd leads Division II with 14 wins this season, exceeding her win total from a season ago, and is 20th in the country with 99 strikeouts.
Matie Wolkow is third in the country with four saves this season.

Western New Mexico is 7-21 on the season and 4-17 in conference play; they have lost their last eight contests and 16 of their last 17. The Mustangs are 0-9 on the road this season.
The Mustangs opened their season at the South Central Regional Tournament in Los Lunas, where they went 3-2 with wins over Adams State, Fort Lewis and CSU Pueblo.
In conference play, their lone series win came in their conference opener against St. Mary's in Silver City, where they took two out of three games from the Rattlers.

WNMU's pitching staff has a league-worst 7.16 ERA and have struck out 104 batters in 174 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .351 against the Mustangs, the highest mark in the LSC. Kiya Hamar leads the team with a 6.46 ERA while mainly working out of the bullpen. Kamerynn Cordova leads the team with three wins while working as the Mustangs' main starter. Labraida Tenorio leads the team with 37 strikeouts in 36 innings of work.
Defensively, their .948 fielding percentage is 12th in the LSC. They have allowed 54 stolen bases, second-most in the league, and have thrown out six baserunners.

The result also snapped a 16-game winning streak for ASU against the Mustangs. The Rambelles would rebound to claim the final two games of the series. The Rambelles are 7-0 all-time against WNMU in Silver City, winning those game by an average of nine runs per contest.
