No. 21 Rambelles Close Home Schedule Versus Texas A&M International

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team plays their final home series of the season this week as they host Texas A&M International in midweek action.

The series will start with the two teams meeting on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a doubleheader before they close the series at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles swept Cameron last weekend, snapping a six-game skid against the Aggies that dated back to the 2021 season.

Keilei Garcia singled in the first run in the first inning of the game, which was followed by a four-spot in the second inning. The scoring was capped by an Ashton Dirner home run in the fifth inning as the Rambelles claimed a 6-0 win.

The Aggies pulled out a 4-2 lead in game two before a home run by Garcia in the fifth inning made it 4-3. A two-out Zoey De Baca double in the seventh forced extra innings, where an Abby Brand bunt forced an Aggie error and gave the Rambelles a 5-4 lead.

A scoreless pitching duel met the two teams in game three, and neither team scored until Layni Tanner's walk-off single at the bottom of the seventh gave the Rambelles a 1-0 win. Torrey Hogan threw a complete-game shutout in the senior day win en route to being named the LSC Pitcher of the Week.

The Rambelles hit .288 as a team, averaging 4.8 runs per game. The Rambelles are second in Division II with 22 triples hit this season, more than doubling their total from a season ago. The Rambelles also rank ninth in the country, having been hit by 41 pitches this season. Averie Gunther has been plunked 16 times, the second-most in the country this season.

Tatiana Trotter is tenth in the LSC with a .676 slugging percentage; she leads the country with eight triples this season, a new single-season record at Angelo State. De Baca leads the conference with five sacrifice flies this season.

The Rambelles have a 1.94 team ERA, second-best in the LSC, and lead the league with eight saves. They have struck out 225 batters in 285.1 innings, and opponents only hit .233 against the Rambelles, the third-best mark in the LSC.

Cheyenne Floyd is sixth in Division II with 18 wins this season, more than twice her win total from a season ago, and leads the LSC with a 1.26 ERA.
