Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Rambelles Past Lobos

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's basketball team dominated offensively to defeat Sul Ross State, 90-67, Thursday evening inside the Junell Center - Stephens Arena.
 
With the win, the Belles improve to 15-5 overall and 11-3 in Lone Star Conference action. While Sul Ross State falls to 2-15 overall, and 1-13 in conference play.
 
40 Minute Rundown
  • Keniah Williams opened the scoring for the Rambelles, giving them the lead 12 seconds into the game. They would never look back. 
  • At the 3:07 marker for the first quarter, a layup from Majik Esquivel would give the Rambelles their first ten-point lead of the contest, 19-9.
  • The Belles Lauren Catherman hit a three at the 1:33 marker to send the Rambelles into the second quarter with a, 24-13, lead.
  • The Belles went on a 23-2 run to open the second quarter of action to give the Rambelles a 32-point lead, 49-17, with 1:45 remaining in the contest. 
  • The Blue and Gold went into halftime up, 49-23.
  • At the 2:00 mark of the third quarter, Lauren Catherman hit a three-pointer to give the Rambelles a 74-36 lead, the team's biggest lead to this point in the contest, and to give herself 1000 career points.
  • A three-pointer from Taylor Flores gave the Rambelles their biggest lead of the contest, 97-60, and also the victory.
