Belles Host St. Edward's on Saturday

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will host St. Edward's on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Junell Center.

The Belles (2-5) are winners of two of their last three games after a 65-48 win over McMurry on Tuesday night. ASU hit 41-percent form the floor and forced a season high 13 turnovers in the win. Four Belles scored in double figures to secure the victory. ASU is 1-2 in the Junell Center this season.

In the last three games, the Belles are scoring 66.3 points per game while limited teams to 59.7 points and only 33.8-percent shooting. ASU is limited its turnovers recently by giving up only 15.3 compared to its season average of 18.7.  The team has also dished out 12.3 assists per season over the last three games. ASU is scoring 62.3 points per game and shooting 39-percent form the floor overall this season. The Belles have benefited from getting to the free throw line by scoring 15.3 points per game at the charity stripe.

Jasmine Caston continues to lead the Belles in scoring at 16.3 points per game. The sophomore is third in the LSC in scoring this season. She has scored in double figures in six of the team's seven games and has scored at least 15 points in four games this season. She is tops on the team with 11 steals and second with 13 assists. Her season-high of 26 points came against Colorado State-Pueblo.

Jackie Patterson has upper her season average over the last three games. The senior has scored 15.0 points per game over the last three games and is second on the team scoring this season at 11.9 points per game. She leads the Belles by grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game. She has two double-doubles on the season and scored a season-high 19 points against St. Mary's last Sunday.

Jasmine Patterson recorded her season high in points against McMurry. The junior was a perfect seven-of-seven from the floor to lead the team with 15 points. It was her second game to score double figures.

Amanda Weaver, who is averaging 8.1 points this season, scored 10 points in the win over McMurry. The junior leads the team with 15 assists with nine of her assists coming in the last three games. Diamalises Rivera has averaged 4.3 points per game and 3.9 rebounds in the post. Michelle Rosewell has dished out 10 assists and made eight steals on the season.

Elaine Herrera, KeAnna Kelly, Keva Raiford, Jordan Whitaker, Lexi Murphy, Kietta Saunders, Shanna Taylor and Kylie Rollman have all provided minutes over the last three games to add to the Belles depth.

It will be the first meeting with St. Edward's since 2011. The Hilltoppers are 5-1 on the season with their only loss being a 75-73 setback to Lewis at the Rollins Thanksgiving Classic. ASU holds a 12-8 advantage in the all-time series but St. Edward's won the last matchup 59-47.

The game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
