Belles Lose to Cameron 63-59

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball dropped its final home game 63-59 to Cameron on Saturday afternoon at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.

The Belles (13-12, 7-8 LSC) shot 31.3-percent from the field while the Aggies hit 41.1-percent from the field and 46.7-percent from behind the arc. Cameron scored 21 points off 14 turnovers.

In her final home game, Karlie Kellemeier recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Weaver added 10 points. Rochelle Norris and Hillari Adam both scored seven points.

Jazzmine Robinson led the Aggies with 19 points while Chelsea Stamp scored 11 points.

The game started with the two teams battling back and forth at seven through the first four minutes of the game. Cameron went on
10-4 run to take a 17-10 lead at the 9:13 mark. Norris hit a jumper in the lane to stop the run.

The Aggies took their biggest lead of 13 at 25-13 with 6:11 to go in the first half. ASU would outscore Cameron 12-9 over the final six minutes of the half but were down 34-25.

The Belles came out of the second half on fire with a 10-2 run. Haylee Oliver hit the first bucket of the half and capped the run off to put ASU up 37-36 with 16:41 to go. Cameron hit two free throws to tie it at 43 with 11:41 to go and would go on a 10-3 run to take a 53-46
advantage with 7:20 to go.

ASU was down 55-49 at the 7:22 mark, and the two teams would go scoreless over the next five minutes. A 3-pointer by Amanda Weaver cut the lead to 55-52 with just over two minutes to go. The Belles would cut it to two again with a jumper by Adam at 57-55, but the Aggies would score 6-4 over the final 1:21 to secure the win.

ASU will play its final game of the regular season next Saturday at 1 p.m.
