Belles Host McMurry at 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will play its final non-conference game of the season against McMurry on Thursday, Dec. 31 at Stephens Arena inside the Junell Center at 2 p.m.

The Belles (6-3) will look to break a two-game losing streak falling to UTPB and Wayland Baptist in its final preparation before their Lone Star Conference schedule begins on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Stephenville.

ASU is 4-1 at home this season and scoring 85.6 points per game. Opponents are being held to 63.4 points per game. The Belles hit 44.1-percent from the field and outrebound teams 46.4 to 37.0. Angelo State excels at ball moving recording 19.8 assists per game and force 20.6 turnovers per game.

The Belles lead the LSC in scoring at 82.7 points per game and are second in scoring margin at 15.3. ASU also is tops in the league in field goal percentage (44.8), 3-point field goal percentage (.380), offensive rebounds (16.6), turnover margin (3.22), assist to turnover ratio (1.17), assists (18.89). Overall, ASU limits teams to 67.3 points per game on the season and hits 44.8-percent from the field and 38.0-percent from behind the arc. ASU grabs 5.8 rebounds more than opponents (42.2-36.4).

Taylor Dorsey not only leads the team in scoring but also the LSC with 19.7 points per game. She has scored in double figures in seven games this season including the last four. The junior scored a career high 36 points against St. Mary's. The Ft. Worth native is tops on the team with 30 assists per game and 15 steals. She grabs 5.3 rebounds per game and has accumulated 17 three pointers on the year.

Jasmine Prophet is second on the team in scoring 11.3 points per game. She recorded a season high 21 points on the road against UTPB and then grabbed a season high nine rebounds versus Wayland Baptist. She has five games in double figures and grabs 4.9 rebounds per game. She leads the team with 12 blocks and has handed out 14 assists. The junior is also efficient at the charity stripe sinking 86.9-percent.

Brea Mitchell is the third Belle in double figures with 11.1 points per game. She is coming off a season high with 18 points against Wayland Baptist. It was her fifth game in double figures on the season. The senior is tied for the team lead with 5.3 rebounds per game. She is second on the team with 24 assists.

KeAnna Kelly is second on the team with 14 steals and 13 three pointers. The sophomore averages 8.0 points per game and has dished out 20 assists. She has three double-digit scoring games on the season.

Christina Robinson is tops on the team in 3-point shooting hitting 56.2-percent on the season. The junior averages 7.2 points per game and has hit 88.8-percent from the free throw line. She has two games in double figures and a season high 16 points. Robinson has recorded 23 assists, 13 steals and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Diamalises Rivera has come off the bench to score 6.4 points per game and grab 4.1 rebounds. The senior has scored three times in double figures. She sinks 80.0-percent from the free throw line. She has eight assists and six steals on the season.

Lexi Murphy has been an efficient three point shooter hitting 45.4-percent on the season. The junior is second on the team with 10 three pointers. She averages 6.1 points per game and is one of seven players in double-digit assists with 15 on the year.

Kiahna Thompson and Natalie Quesnel average 4.1 and 4.0 points per game on the season. Thompson has hit seven 3-pointers on the year with eight assists and three steals. Quesnel has handed out nine assists and grabbed 2.7 rebounds per game. Nekeita Bailey has dished out 11 assists and made eight steals. The junior is averaging 2.3 points per game and hits 60.0-percent form the field.

McMurry is 2-8 on the season and have lost its last two. Taylor Russel leads the War Hawks with 16.5 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game. Sierra Maykus adds 12.0 points per game for McM. The War Hawks score 56.6 points per game and allow 74.4 points per game.

The game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call and on RamTV channel six on Suddenlink.
