Belles Open Conference Play with Pair of Road Games

SAN ANGELO –The Angelo State women's basketball team will open conference play on the road with a pair of games against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 5:15 p.m. and at Texas Woman's on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.

The Belles are 2-1 after wins over St. Mary's and Oklahoma Christian. The lone loss was a close last-second loss to No. 14 Fort Lewis. ASU is scoring 70.1 points per game while limiting opponents to just 57.7 points per game. Angelo State has the best assist to turnover ratio in the LSC at 1.11 per game and highest rebounding margin at 10.0 per game.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is 3-4 on the season after a pair of losses at the ASU Thanksgiving Classic, while Texas Woman's is 3-2. ASU went 4-0 last season against the two opponents.

De'Anira Moore, the LSC Defensive Player of the Week, had a stellar start to her season. The sophomore averaged a double-double through her first three games of the season. She scored a career high 17 against Fort Lewis and one day later grabbed a career high 18 rebounds versus Oklahoma Christian. She leads the team in points (13.7 per game) and rebounds (12.7 per game). The Allen native finished with a double-double in two of the three games and leads the team with five blocks. She hit a team high 48.1 percent from the field and handed out eight assists.

Keanna Kelly is one of five Belles to score in double figures to start the season. The senior is averaging 13.0 per game after a career high 25 against Oklahoma Christian. She has hit six 3-pointers on the year and is perfect from the charity stripe. She is third on the team in rebounds with 5.7 and second in assists per game at 3.0. She has recorded six steals and made 35.3 percent from the field.

Marquita Daniels scored in double figures in two of the three games including a career high 22 versus Oklahoma Christian. The senior guard also grabbed a season high seven rebounds versus OCU as well. She leads the team with eight steals.

Madi Greenwood is the fourth Belle scoring in double figures at 11.3 per game. She made five 3-pointers and recorded a season high 16 against Fort Lewis College. The senior has eight assists on the year and 2.7 assists per game. She is tied for the most 3-pointers made with six and is third on the team in field goal percentage at .435.

Dezirae Hampton is scoring 10.3 points per game and is second on the team in rebounds at 6.3 per game. She hit double figures against St. Mary's and Oklahoma Christian and has made a 3-pointer in every game this season. She is tied for second on the team with eight assists and has two blocks.

Kynese Davis, Mikayla Blount, Dearria Watsona dn Aaliyah Warren have all contributed off the bench. Davis scored a career high nine points versus St. Mary's and is five-for-six from the free throw line. Blount has grabbed eight rebounds and averages 2.7 points per game. Watson has scored 2.3 poitns and grabbed 1.7 rebounds on the season. Warren scored her first points of the season against St. Mary's and has seen action in all three games.
