SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team heads to Daytona, Florida, for the Daytona Hoops Classic to face regional foe St. Edward's and Illinois-Springfield on Monday, Dec. 18 and Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 1:30 p.m. EDT / 12:30 p.m. CDT, respectively.
The Belles enter the tournament at 5-2 overall and are tops in the LSC in scoring (70.7 points per game), free throw percentage (.747) and blocked shots (5.57). ASU is No. 21 nationally in fewest turnovers and No. 16 in fewest fouls committed.
St. Edward's is 5-5 on the season with a game against UTPB on Friday evening before the matchup with the Belles. The Hilltoppers score 56.3 points per game and hold teams to 54.3. Illinois Springfield is 7-1 on the season. The Prairie Stars score 81.6 points per game and limit opponents to 58.0.
De'Anira Moore leads ASU in both points (15.0) and rebounds (10.6) for the season. She has recorded six double-doubles on the season and scored a career high of 21 points in her last two games against Midwestern state and Cameron.  The sophomore is No. 7 in Division II and No. 1 in the LSC in  blocked shots per game while also being ranked No. 21 nationally in rebounds per game and No. 5 nationally in offensive rebounds per game. She has 21 blocked shots on the season and makes .492 from the field.
Marquita Daniels earned LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors after averaging 6.5 steals per game and recorded a career high eight against Midwestern State. The eight steals is the sixth best single game in Division II this season. She ranks at No. 7 nationally in steals per game at 3.71 and is No. 1 in the LSC. The Atlanta native is averaging 13.3 points per game and is coming off a career high 24 points against Cameron. She is the ASU leader in steals (26) and has dished out 13 assists on the season.
Keanna Kelly is one of five Belles in double figures scoring with 11.3 points per game. She has surpassed the double-digit scoring mark four times including a career high 25 against Oklahoma Christian earlier in the season. The senior leads the team in 3-pointers made with 14 and is second on the team in assists with 16. She has made 12 stelas and a .882 free throw percentage clip.
Madi Greenwood is one of the top free throw shooters in the nation at 96.2 percent. She is No. 3 in the LSC with 2.9 assists per game. The senior has the second best 3-point percentage at .414 and leads ASU with 20 assists on the year. She has double figures in scoring in four games and scored a season high of 16 versus Fort Lewis.
Dezirae Hampton is the fifth Belle in double figure scoring at 10.6 per game. She is also No. 5 in the LSC in rebounding at 7.7 per game. The junior has five games of double-digit scoring while dishing out 15 assists on the season. She has made 41.2 percent from the field and 40.7 from behind the arc.
Kynese Davis, Mikayla Blount, Aaliyah Warren and Dearria Watson have all had vital roles off the bench. Davis is averaging 3.6 points per game with 15 assists on the year. She has also made 42.9 percent from the 3-poitn line. Blount seven assists and five steals on the year to go along with her 2.6 rebounds per game. Warren has scored in the last three games she has played in for the Belles while Watson has grabbed 1.7 rebounds per game.
The Belles will receive some help as Ekiya Gray will make her ASU debut at the tournament. The senior led Blinn to a NJCAA tournament berth and was the top rebounder with 7.5 per game. She averaged 13.9 points per game.
