SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball game will host Texas Woman's on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
The Belles are on a five game win streak and sit at 13-4 overall with an 8-3 record in the Lone Star Conference. ASU leads the conference in scoring (72.5 per game) and blocked shots (5.00). During the win streak Angelo State is limiting teams to 56.0 points per game.
This will be the second matchup between the two LSC schools. ASU recorded 11 blocks and 10 steals against TWU while also limiting the Pioneers to just 33.3 percent shooting.
Five players are averaging double figures with a sixth right on outside of 10 points per game and three are rebounding at least seven per game.
De'Anira Moore leads the team in scoring and rebounds with 12.5 points and 8.8 boards per game. She has 12 games scoring in double figures and seven with double-digit rebounds. The sophomore makes 46.8 percent from the field and has 49 blocks, 16 assists and 10 steals.
Marquita Daniels is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game. She is No. 8 nationally in stelas with 55 on the season. She is three steals away from moving into the top 10 in ASU single season history. The Atlanta native is tops on the team with 51 assists.
Dezirae Hampton extended her streak of scoring in double digits with 11. She recorded her second double-double of the season against TAMUK with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She averages 11.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds. The junior also has 34 assists and 14 steals on the season.
Ekiya Gray has made an impact in 10 games this season. She is scoring 11.2 points per game and 8.7 rebounds. She is efficient from the field hitting 49.4 percent from the field. The Houston native has handed out 16 assists and made 18 steals on the year.
Madi Greenwood scored 19 points in the first game with TWU. The senior is scoring 10.1 points per game and has hit 23 three pointers. She has the second most assists with 42 and 11 assists.
Keanna Kelly scored 15 points against TAMUK including four 3-pointers. She leads the teams in 3-pointers with 30 on the season. The Mansfield native scores 9.9 points per game with 32 assists and 17 steals.
Mikayla Blount, Kynese Davis Dearria Watson and Aaliyah Warren have all made significant contributions off the bench. Blount scored 3.9 points per game and Davis averages 3.8 per game. Davis also is third on the team is assists with 38. Watson has played nine games and scored 1.7 per game while Warren has seen action in 14 games and scored 1.6 per game.
