SAN ANGELO – With a big win over the Cameron Aggies this afternoon, the Belles own a 12-4 record (5-2 in the Lone Star Conference). The 89-54 final score was the result of a well-played game by the entire Belles squad, who led the Aggies in every offensive category.
As a team, the Belles shot 49% from the field going 33-67. They were also lethal from beyond the arc, hitting the deep shot at a rate of 44%. Angelo State also proved themselves dominant when collecting boards, outrebounding the Aggies 43-32.
Four Belles scored in the double digits tonight, with six others putting up points of their own as well. Dezirae Hampton was 6-12 from the field putting up 15 points and eight rebounds, while complimenting those numbers with four assist
Marquita Daniels was good for 15 points of her own while also shooting 6-12 from the field, as well as grabbing six boards and three assists.
De'Anira Moore was the third Belle on the night to shoot 50% from the field, going 7-14. Moore also had seven rebounds and an assist in 22 minutes of play.
Asia Davis was efficient with her scoring on the night, putting up 13 points while going 4-7 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range. Davis would pick up four of her points as she shot 80% from the free throw line on the night, shooting 4-5. She also had three rebounds of her own and an assist.
Mikayla Blount continued to show that range isn't an issue for her, shooting 3-6 for 50% from range. Blount would also contribute to the rebounding disparity between the two teams by collecting four of her own.
Maria Delgado shot 3-4 from the field for seven points of her own and adding five rebounds to the team total as well.
Essence Johnson, Catara Samuel, Perrine Manoury, and Dearria Watson would all come in to play for less than 20 minutes each, but still provide plenty for their team in the big win.
Johnson had four points and six rebounds in her 14 minutes on the hardwood.
Catara Samuel had five points of her own while also providing three rebounds and two assists.
Perrine Manoury would drain a deep three in the face of a defender in her three minutes of time on the field, electrifying her team and the crowd.
Dearria Watson provided four points, one rebound, and one assist in her seven minutes of play.
The Belles return to action Saturday, January 26 at 2:00 P.M. as they face off against the Mustangs of Midwestern State University for Military Appreciation Day.Â
