Rambelles Wrap Up Conference Play with Two Road Games

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Belle basketball team finishes out the regular season on the road as they travel to Silver City, New Mexico and Odessa, Texas to play the Western New Mexico Mustangs and the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons.
The Belles are 15-9 overall and 12-8 in conference play.

Series Matchup:
Since 2013, Angelo State and Western New Mexico have played each other nine times, with ASU leading the all-time series, 8-1. The last time these two teams played each other was on January 4, 2020, where the Belles defeated the Mustangs 69-50 on their home court in San Angelo, Texas. De'Anira Moore led the Belles offensive charge against the Mustangs scoring 27 points for Angelo State, shooting 67% from the field, making 8-12 field goals, and shooting 85% from the free throw line, making 11-13 free throws. Moore grabbed seven total rebounds against the Mustangs, three on offense and four on defense, while gabbing two assists and two blocks. Catara Samuel led the defensive charge for the Belles, grabbing seven total rebounds for ASU as well, four on offense and three on defense, while also grabbing two assists and seven steals for the Blue and Gold.
 
Since 2007, Angelo State and UTPB have played each other 16 times, with ASU leading the all-time series, 10-6. The last time these two teams played each other was on January 2, 2020, where the Belles defeated the Falcons, 74-45, on their home court at the Junell Center Stephens Arena. Megan Guadian led the Belles offense against UTPB, scoring 21 points for the Belles. Guadian shot 50% from the field, making 7-14 field goals, and shooting 54% from the three point line, and making 7-13 three pointers. Guadian grabbed three defensive rebounds against the Falcons, as well as one steal for the Belles. De'Anira Moore led the defensive charge against the Falcons, grabbing 13 total rebounds for ASU, three offensive rebounds and 10 on defense, along with five blocks and one steal. Moore scored 15 points for ASU, shooting 100% from the field, making 5-5 field goals, and 83% from the free throw line, making 5-6 free throws.
 
Key Players:
De'Anira Moore continues to be one of the Belles powerhouses down in the paint for the Belles, scoring 30 points for Angelo State over the weekend. Moore shot 10-25 from the field, shooting 40% from the field, and 10-13 from the free throw line, shooting 77% from the free throw line. Moore grabbed 19 total rebounds against the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas and the Texas A&M International Dustdevils, 11 offensive rebounds and eight defensive rebounds, also grabbing two assist and nine blocks.
 
Catara Samuel continues to be one the Belles main offensive scorers and defensive players for Angelo State, scoring 27 points for the Belles. Samuel shot 10-21 from the field, shooting 48% from the field, and shot 7-11 free throws, shooting 64% from the free throw line. Samuel grabbed nine total rebounds, two on offensive and seven defensive, along with nine assists and three steals.
 
Asia Davis continues to show her offensive skills and talent for Angelo State, scoring 18 points for the Blue and Gold. Davis shot 8-15 field goals, shooting 53% from the field, 1-3 three pointers, shooting 33% from the three point line, and 1-2 free throws, shooting 50% from the free throw line. Davis grabbed four defensive rebounds total, also grabbing four assists and one steal.

The Belles wait to see if they host one more home game or have to travel to another conference opponents' home court to see if they go to the Lone Star Conference tournament, starting on March 3, 2020, with the actual tournament being held in Frisco, Texas from March 5 through March 8.
