Hall of Honor
Ola was a fixture of the ASU Physical Education/Kinesiology department during her time on ASU’s campus. “Ms. Ola” as she was referred to, had a lasting impact on many ASU students and graduates. Her guidance and direction with academic and life matters were instrumental in the success that many of our student-athletes had while at ASU and since graduating. When Softball was re-established on campus in 2000, that became her, and her late husband’s passion, so much so, that our home tournament is aptly named the “George and Ola McCorkle Challenge”. In 2008, Ola and her late husband George were honored as the ASU Athletics Family of the Year. In addition to the countless hours spent supporting ASU and ASU Athletics, Ola has been an active member of the Wesley Trinity United Methodist Church, and throughout the years she has accumulated over 6,500 hours of volunteer service and has helped prepare and serve over 40,000 meals annually through the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
